General Information
Personal Information
- Biography
Artist/massage therapist/college student hybrid creature. Book-muncher, vegivist, avid roleplayer, and gothchild. Studying feminism from the school of life.
- My sheroes
Most of the women whom I look up to are not self-identified feminists. They are women with powerful spirits, keen minds, and little sordid twists that I can't help but appreciate. ;) My mother, who managed to complete High School, a bachelors, and later a masters, most while raising me alone. My grandmother, who has struggled with everything from raising three girls to anorexia to a hysterectomy. My friend Ajna, from Scotland, who is raising a rambunctious little boy, also alone. My fellow AGA bloggers.
- Personal goals
Right now, I am going to school to study international relations (with a focus on Japan). I just want to get through it not only with the highest possible GPA, but with as much fluency, knowledge, and grace as I can fit into my brain.
- Bragging Rights
I have got to say that the things I am most proud of are: moving to the big city with no clue what I was doing and somehow surviving; being openly queer and alternative in the public education system; saving someone's life; doodling on every piece of paperwork I have ever filled out; and never giving up on the pursuit of happiness.
- Favorite books
Jane Eyre, Phantom of the Opera, White Oleander, The Kushiel Legacy, The Vampire Chronicles, Harry Potter, Ramses the Damned, His Dark Materials, The Secret Garden, The Silver Key (short-story), Dealing With Dragons, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Love in the Time of Cholera, Mio min Mio. The works of Poe, Lovecraft, and Byron. V for Vendetta, ElfQuest, and Frank Miller style Batman.
- Favorite music
Too much to list, although I am currently going through the "classical canon" artists one by one and giving them a thorough listen. I recently had the privilege of seeing all nine Beethoven symphonies performed by a world-class orchestra. Life-changing! Breathtaking!
- Favorite Films
Farinelli, Mr. Stitch, The 9th Gate, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Heavenly Creatures, Immortal Beloved, The Crow, Hannibal, Silence of the Lambs, What Dreams May Come, Legend, Edward Scissorhands, The Wisdom of Crocodiles, Nightmare Before Christmas, Interview With the Vampire, The Prestige, Howl's Moving Castle, and Secretary.
- Hobbies
Reading, writing, drawing. Roleplaying, board games, and MTG.
